Job Details | This is a full time but a non-permanent position. Job Description: Perform full range of inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing & repair activities on locomotives, locomotive cranes, spreaders, track maintenance equipment, heavy equipment, van loaders, road graders, front end loaders, overhead cranes, on & off track heavy equipment, specialized maintenance of way (engineering) equipment & various standard equipment & components utilized throughout the railroad industry & maintenance shop environments. All work is performed in accordance with the Association of American Railroads Rules, Federal Railroad Administration Regulations, OSHA regulations & Alaska Railroad Corporation regulations & specifications. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; journeyman level heavy equipment mechanic with 4 yrs. verifiable work experience in heavy equipment mechanic trade or completion of heavy duty mechanic’s school; ability to troubleshoot & repair hydraulic, electrical & air systems; have a valid driver’s license; must have a Class B CDL or ability to obtain one within 180 days of hire; must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker’s Card) within 90 days of hire; must be able to wear a respirator.
