Job Details | Job Description: Receive customer booking information, including hazardous declaration, verification of compatibility, and approvals as required; assist customers in submitting Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other documents required based on shipment; ensure Hostlers comply with DOT hours of service regulations and the adopted collective bargaining agreement (CBA); maintain ship reports for inclusion in ship documentation files; confirm payments received and release held containers. Coordinate deliveries with local agents as needed; maintain inventory of customer loads in our yard and ship as requested; run inbound/outbound reports to reconcile incoming loads with internal Documents Clerk; track/update containers in the yard and in the community as movement occurs; maintain an accurate list of Company equipment in Kodiak and work with the Marine Department to ensure enough equipment is available for ship operations and customer needs; ensure bookings and shipments are in compliance with all maritime shipping regulations and Matson standards and policies; ensure appropriate and updated shipping documents are available for each container load; coordinate with other Matson offices to ensure smooth pickup and delivery of freight for customers; ensure working knowledge of most frequently used Tariff rules; other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications: Communicate well in a variety of settings including one-on-one, small and large groups, or among a diverse group of customers or position levels; gain insight and identify opportunities that benefit the customer and the company; rebound from setbacks and adversity when facing a difficult situation; confident under pressure and handles situations with a positive attitude; apply knowledge of internal processes and culture to effectively gain resources to get things done. Multi-task activities to accomplish goals; familiarity with using proprietary software applications and Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook); must be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC card; proven success working in fast-paced settings as part of a team; ability to work shift work as needed; night and weekend work required; ability to interact professionally with customers in all situations.
