Job Details The Alaska Teamster-Employer Service Training Trust (ATESTT) is seeking an experienced CDL professional to join our training team as a CDL Instructor & Workforce Development Trainer. This position begins with CDL instruction and grows into delivering a variety of workforce development, safety, apprenticeship, and industry training programs.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver classroom, range, and behind-the-wheel instruction
  • Train students in CDL skills, safety, inspections, and regulations
  • Evaluate student progress and provide coaching
  • Become certified to teach additional workforce development and industry training programs
  • Support apprenticeship, safety, and employer-sponsored training initiatives
  • Assist with training equipment and facility operations
  • Travel as needed to support training in Fairbanks, rural Alaska communities, and Teamster employer-sponsored programs statewide

Required Qualifications

  • Class A CDL held for at least 3 years
  • Minimum 3 years of CDL driving experience within the last 7 years
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check
  • No DOT drug or alcohol violations
  • Ability to meet Alaska DMV instructor and examiner requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teamster or union industry experience
  • Construction, transportation, or heavy equipment experience
  • Previous coaching, mentoring, supervision, or training experience
  • OSHA, safety, apprenticeship, or workforce development experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

No Teaching Experience Required

We provide extensive training to help qualified candidates become certified instructors, CDL examiners, and trainers across multiple workforce development programs.
