Job DetailsJob Summary: Provide customer service to plan participants regarding their Health and Welfare benefits. Communicates medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, HRA, and other plan features to plan participants and their beneficiaries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides Health and Welfare customer service to participants
  • Resolves improper processing of eligibility, medical, HRA accounts, prescription, dental, and vision claims
  • Attends annual health fairs
  • Prepares and facilitates month-end reports
  • Prepares eligibility packets
  • Prepares reinstatement eligibility letters
  • Prepares self-payment letters
  • Monitors Trust website for updates to Health and Welfare
  • Process and post member self-payments
  • Review Retiree Medicare invoices for changes
  • Assists Lead or Supervisor with Open Enrollment functions

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more years of comparable work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of ERISA, the governing law
  • Knowledge of ACA
  • Ability to understand Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Complete understanding of CPT (Current Procedure Terminology) codes, ICD-10 codes, HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) codes, and CDT (dental and nomenclature) codes
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex issues in both written and verbal form
  • Ability to understand the Summary Plan Description for Health & Welfare and articulate the provisions to participants, business agents, and employers

OTHER INFORMATION

Will be required to attend some Union meetings and some travel. Under ERISA, the ESC cannot hire felons. Background checks will be conducted on all employees.
