Job Details | Job Summary: Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill. Primary duties: Supply skilled trades person with materials and tools; clean work areas, machines and equipment; may perform and/or assist with duties as assigned in the Steam Plant, Water Treatment Plant and Waste Water Treatment plant; assist with preventative maintenance; assist fuel distribution mechanic in the repair and maintenance responsibilities which include fuel storage and distribution systems, water and waste water systems, steam generation and distribution systems and maintenance of a liquid oily waste processing facility; assist in the process of removing contaminants from the waste water through physical, chemical, and biological processes under close supervision of a licensed operator; clean clarifiers and wet wells; perform scheduled operation and preventive maintenance of equipment and the required maintenance reports under supervision of a licensed operator or trained mechanic; perform specialized machine operation, or parts of trade, under close supervision of a licensed operator or trained mechanic; may be required to complete specific requirements using qualification cards at various plants. Education, Experience, Skills: High school education or G.E.D equivalent; required to obtain a CDL with tanker endorsement within six months of employment; must be able to communicate clearly (oral and written) in the English language; knowledge of acceptable practices of occupational safety and health regulations; must pass a medical evaluation for respiratory wear and a respirator fit test; must obtain Confined Space Certification.
