Job Details | This position supports the Enhanced Polar System (EPS) Mission, providing protected Extremely High Frequency (EHF) satellite communications to users operating in the North Polar Region. Responsibilities include Molniya orbit satellite tracking operations, maintenance and repair of all equipment, including three EHF Navy Multiband Terminals (NMTs), Telemetry and Command Tracking station and associated baseband and support equipment. Requirements: Perform site operations including satellite tracking and handover procedures, maintaining seamless communications for end users, EHF beam pointing functions, baseband port mapping, crypto key updates and coordination with distant end users, communications planners and payload management. Monitor and analyze communication circuits, work closely with functional users and other key players in order to access, troubleshoot and resolve issues. Perform Organizational Level preventative and corrective maintenance IAW Technical Orders, Commercial Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures. Follow and comply with all program operating procedures and checklists and support improvement initiatives and corrective/preventative actions. Create and maintain extensive logs and records associated with day-to-day operations, maintenance and support activities. Participate in meetings, briefings and tours as required. Work 12 hours shifts on a rotational basis as dictated by Company and/or mission needs. Ability to work overtime. Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and work in confined spaces. Complete initial and recurring training on EPS systems and support programs. May be appointed as a COMSEC Responsible Officer as needed. Required Skills/Experience: Six (6) years SATCOM experience and/or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Associate of Science Degree in electrical, computer or networks engineering technology. Experience with military satellite constellations and ground station equipment. Proficient in using common test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, digital test sets, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, power meters and communication analyzers). Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effective, both orally and in writing. Strong technical, analytical and critical thinking skills. Possess strong work ethic.
