Job Details | This job entails doing a combination/variety of: hostler, line haul, fuel, flatbed work, lowboy jobs, pump work, odd jobs around yard, wash truck/trailers, cement bulker work, railcar work (offload cement/climbing ladders) line haul, oilfield support, military moves & flush jobs. Essential Functions: supports the shop personnel; city driving-local pickup & delivery of freight; light maintenance on tractors & trailers; tie down loads & lowboy work; washing equipment; may lead in pilot car; inspect truck for defects before & after trips & report any discrepancies indicating truck condition to dispatcher or shop foreman; must be able to back tankers in & out of shop & around property; maneuver trailers in & around tight corners, through manufacturing areas & around high pedestrian traffic; may drive tractor with two trailers hitched in tandem; perform related duties as assigned by dispatchers; understanding of brake, electrical systems, basic transmission & rear end functions is a plus. Required: 23 years of age or older; read & speak English sufficiently to converse with general public & comprehend DOT & OSHA regulations; no serious moving violation (excessive speeding over 15 mph) or DUI in the previous 5 years; tanker/chemical experience; valid AK Class A CDL with hazmat (X), current DOT medical card. Preferred: 3 plus years winter driving experience in tractor trailer; double/triples (T) endorsement, Long Combination Vehicle (LCV) certificate, TWIC card.
