Job Details | This job entails doing a combination/variety of: hostler, line haul, fuel, flatbed work, lowboy jobs, pump work, odd jobs around yard, wash trucks/trailers, cement bulker work, railcar work (offload cement/climbing ladders) line haul, oilfield support, military moves and flush jobs. Essential Functions: - Perform product transfers, i.e., deicer, methanol, and fuel
- City driving—local pickup and delivery of freight
- Light maintenance on tractors and reailers
- Tie down loads and lowboy work
- Responsible for maintaining equipment
- May lead in pilot car
- Understanding of brake, electrical systems, basic transmission, and rear end functions a plus
- Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and reports any discrepancies indicating truck condition to the dispatcher or shop foreman
- Must be able to safely maneuver trailers in and out of shops, loading docks, and yards
- Maneuvers trailers in and around tight corners, through manufacturing areas, and around high pedestrian traffic
- Linehaul support, i.e., building, pre-tripping, breaking down, and post-tripping of doubles and storing equipment.
- May operate heavy equipment such as loader and winch trucks
- Performs related duties as assigned by dispatchers
Required: - Driver is 21 years or older — FMCSR Part 391.11 (b) (1)
- Read and speak English sufficiently to converse with general public and comprehend DOT and OSHA regulations — FMCSR Part 391.11 (b) (2)
- No serious moving violation (excessive speeding over 15 mph) or DUI in the previous 5 years
- Tanker/chemical experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registration - Valid Alaska Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements (X)
- Valid medical card — FMCSR Part 391.11 (b) (4)
Preferred: - Three plus year winter driving experience in a tractor trailer
- Doubles/triples (T) endorsement / Long Combination Vehicle (LCV) Certification
- TWIC Card
