Job Details | Job Summary: The Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel, and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire-sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Primary Duties: Review, understand, and adhere to the scope of the job and contract. Review plans/work orders and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials; identify required tools and special equipment; perform Job Safety assessments, and adhere to safety protocols; communicate with supervisor, project management, and purchasing on an as-needed basis; inspect all material when delivered to job site, confirm material against the packing slip and that is according to specs and plans; keep the work area clean and remove all trash at the end of each workday; install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures, and equipment; assemble and install valves and fittings; install, repair, and maintain water treatment equipment, piping, and controls; install, repair, and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems; install, repair, and maintain sinks, tubs, and toilets; install, repair, and maintain water heaters and conditioners; install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim; test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks; test, repair, install and certify backflow preventers; maintain related records concerning time, labor, and materials; maintain a log of tasks performed and write reports as required; submit work requests to generate work orders deficiencies found; must participate as a member of the Mechanical Shop Call Out Rotation. Education, Experience, Skills: High school education or G.E.D equivalent; valid Alaska State Journeyman Plumber License; must be able to communicate clearly (oral and written) in the English language with both internal and external clients and co-workers; valid Alaska Driver’s License; Plumbing: 2 years; knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures; must complete Company provided Confined Space Entry training and perform work in a variety of confined spaces; knowledge of acceptable practices of occupational safety and health regulations. Preferred: Alaska Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection License; Journeyman or Master License. A complete job description are available in the Anchorage dispatch office.
