Job Details | Duties and Responsibilities: Control and record movement of cargo and mail, provide cargo processing, special handling and aircraft loading and unloading in accordance with policy, directives and memorandums. Ensure appropriate agencies are notified in advance for shipments of perishable cargo, unusual shipments, when couriers need to accompany cargo and other shipments that need to be tendered separately. Ensure maximum aircraft utilization and on-time aircraft departures. Validate load plans, accomplish load planning functions on various aircraft, request passenger deviations as required. Load and unload cargo and baggage on and off government owned or contracted aircraft and surface conveyances. Perform aircraft fleet servicing (remove all trash from aircraft, latrine servicing, potable water, in-flight meal delivery). Dispose of international waste through safely operating the portable incinerator in accordance with base regulations. Facilitate on-ward movement of originating cargo/mail with appropriate agencies as applicable; process originating cargo within six hours of receipt or release from frustrated status; build-up/break-down multi pallet trains, loose cargo and mixed pallets as required; coordinate timely pickup/release of cargo and mail. Perform Hazardous Cargo inspections and Joint Inspections of deploying units’ cargo. Operate various material handling equipment such as K-loaders, forklifts, lavatory service trucks, baggage conveyors, tugs and vans. Operate Global Air Transportation Executions System (GATES) for in-checking and manifesting cargo; weigh and record accurate cargo and baggage weights; augment other work centers as required. Maintain cleanliness of terminal facilities inside and out to include restrooms, common areas, lawn and snow removal during winter months to ensure safety. Required Skills: Must have fluent English reading and writing skills and computer skills to be able to operate and understand the web based GLobal Air Transportation Execution System (GATES) and /or any replacement government system. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance of Secret or higher (interim is acceptable upon initial hire). Must maintain a valid US driver’s license. Desireable Skills: Load Planning training, Hazardous Cargo Inspector Certification, Joint Inspector Certification, Material Handling Equipment and Specialized Operator License, Flightline Driving Competency Card.
