||Job Summary: Perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, and installation and alteration of commercial and residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in residences, department stores, office building, and other commercial establishments; utilizes knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipe-fitting structural layout; fabricate assemble, and install duct-work and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment; install evaporator unit chassis or in air-duct system; install air and water filters in completed installation; test joints and connections for gas leaks.
Educations, Experience, Skills: High school education or G.E.D. equivalent preferred; must be able to communicate clearly (oral and written) in English language; valid Alaska drivers license; relevant trade certification; 5 years experience in one total combination of either refrigeration, low pressure boiler, steam fitter or pipe-fitter; must meet requirements of an annual physical that will include pulmonary function testing and will require the occasional use of a respirator: Preferred: Associates degree in applies science with HVAC/R Technology; hold EPA universal refrigerant card; Direct Digital Controls (DDC) experience; experience with small package boilers, and commercial ventilation systems; steam distribution and maintenance of system.
