Job DetailsJob Summary: Perform a variety of waste handling/management and warehousing duties for hazardous and non-hazardous waste in a TSDF facility.

Primary Duties: Comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and regulations; performs a variety of waste handling/management duties for hazardous and non-hazardous waste in the HWSB which includes a TSDF, Non-Regulated Area; perform waste sampling, containerization, and consolidation, draining materials for various containers to maximize quantities per container; perform breakdown and processing of waste streams such as filters, batteries, etc.; segregate and package for shipment, ensuring waste packaging maintain compliance and all labeling is correct; complete all paperwork, labels, and chain of custody associated with position in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures in a complete, accurate, and neat manner; coordinate the collection and transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from all parties required per contract, ensuring all hazardous waste containers are transported within the allotted time; maintain records of all inspections; participate as an on-call spill response team member as directed.

Education, Skills and Experience: High school education or G.E.D equivalent; must be able to communicate clearly ( oral and written) in the English language; must be able to clearly communicate by radio and phone; valid Alaska class B Commercial drivers license with Tanker/HAZMAT Endorsement; must have one-year operation of TSDF/LQG or similar hazardous waste operations experience to including hazardous waste sampling; must be qualified and able to wear a respirator IAQ 29 CFR 1910.134; completion of a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) course, plus annual eight-hour refresher courses; completion of 24-hour Hazardous Waste Technician, plus annual refresher; must meet the requirements of an annual physical that will include pulmonary function testing; must be familiar with all applicable EPA/OSHA regulations and requirements; must be able to operate a forklift; familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
