Job Duties and Essential Functions:
- Complete tasks using the standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment of the facilities maintenance and locksmith trades.
- Complete tasks using the methods, materials, tools, equipment and practices of related facility maintenance disciplines such as controls, mechanical, and electrical.
- Adhere to the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in facilities maintenance and locksmith work.
- Examine locking mechanisms, install new units or disassemble units and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts or repairs by filing, drilling, chiseling and grinding.
- Install, repair, rebuild and service electrical locking devices, using hand tools and special equipment.
- Perform locksmith functions of Change of Occupancy Maintenance.
- Open door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder or opens locks by listening to lock sounds or by drilling.
- Make new or duplicate keys, using key cutting machine.
- Change combination by inserting new or repaired tumblers into lock.
- Establish and maintain keying systems for the property.
- Responsible for checking property and master keys in and out.
- Responsible for checking vehicle keys and gas cards in and out.
- Maintain electronic lockbox system with tasks including tracking, retrieving, reporting on, and programing lockboxes.
- Identify supply requirements to the Lead and/or Management.
- General administrative duties to include but not limited to filing, reproducing copies, database entry, and faxing.
- Maintains accurate files and data on locks and keys.
- Maintains work areas in a safe, clean and organized condition.
- Participate in an On-Call emergency schedule for evening, weekend and holiday coverage, as scheduled.
- May be required to cover work hours that are in addition to normally scheduled work.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor and/or Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License
- Ability to be insured by company’s auto insurance
- Prior locksmith experience required
- Prior maintenance experience or experience in related field required
- Desired greater experience and skills in one or more of the following trades: building construction, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, welding, and auto mechanic preferred
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and willingness to learn
