Education, Experience, Skills: High school education or G.E.D equivalent; must be able to communicate clearly (oral and written) in the English language; valid Alaska Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker/HAZMAT Endorsement; completion of the University of California at Sacramento correspondence course for Level 1 Industrial Wastewater Treatment or training program like the University of California course is acceptable (upon Government approval); completion of 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) course, plus annual eight-hour refresher courses; completion of 24-hour Hazardous Waste Technician, plus annual refresher;  minimum of two years’ experience within Petroleum Oil and Lubricant (POL) or LOWS facilities of similar size and complexity including working knowledge of marine transfers; certified in Confined space (Entry, Attendant and Supervisor); must pass and maintain a medical evaluation for respiratory wear and a respirator fit test in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.134; knowledge of the repair, maintenance practices, and needs for the LOWS; knowledge of the safety hazards and necessary safety precautions connected with plant operation; knowledge of pertinent regulatory requirements, relevant national codes, industry standards, and LOWS Operations and Maintenance Manual; knowledge of Microsoft Suite software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
