About the Position
The Apprenticeship & Training Coordinator plays a key operational role in supporting Teamster apprenticeship and training programs by managing daily coordination, documentation, scheduling, and outreach activities for ATESTT’s Registered Apprenticeship Programs.
This role includes regular participation in career fairs, recruitment events, and statewide outreach activities, which may require travel throughout Alaska, including occasional overnight travel. The Coordinator may also provide direct instruction for approved safety and short‑course training during periods of high demand.
Program authority, compliance oversight, and instructor supervision remain with the Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Apprenticeship Coordination:
- Coordinate recruitment, intake, onboarding, and orientation for:
- Construction Driver & Freight Transport (CDL) Apprentices
- Survey Technician Apprentices
- Maintain apprentice files, eligibility records, and required documentation
- Track Related Technical Instruction (RTI) and On‑the‑Job Training (OJT) hours
- Prepare apprenticeship documentation and reports for required state and federal systems
- Serve as the primary point of contact for apprentices regarding schedules, requirements, and progress
- Support Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) processes, interviews, and meetings
Training Operations:
- Coordinate daily training schedules for apprentices and member eligibility courses
- Work with instructors to confirm calendars, classroom availability, and equipment needs
- Assist with classroom and testing‑day setup and materials
- Support Center for Employment Education (CEE) training activities and DMV testing logistics
Safety & Short‑Course Instruction (as needed):
- Forklift / Powered Industrial Truck
- Flagger and Pilot Car
- First Aid, CPR, and AED
- Other ATESTT‑approved safety or compliance courses
Instruction includes delivering approved curriculum, managing attendance and certifications, maintaining training records, and ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
Outreach & Recruitment::
- Attend career fairs, job fairs, and outreach events statewide
- Assist with apprentice and member recruitment efforts
- Travel throughout Alaska as required to support recruitment, outreach, and training delivery
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Experience in apprenticeship coordination, workforce training, education, or program administration
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
- Comfortable instructing adult learners in classroom and hands‑on environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain required safety training certifications
- Ability and willingness to travel statewide, including occasional overnight travel
- Must meet applicable background and regulatory requirements
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $28.00 per hour
